![]() In fact you don't even need a soundcard to produce glorious 24 bit audio from any DAW, but having one might help eliminate any nasty shocks as to how the finished mix sounds. (Although on windows you will likely need to set the appropiate bit depth in Sond settings for you particular Audio device if you are using the WDM playback/record drivers) It's only during playback where the bit depth the audio card is set at comes into play and being as you've got a modern interface that is likely 24 bit only then you can be assured that you are already hearing the most from the 24 bit files you create. So bear in mind that none of Reason's processing cares about what bit depth your soundcard is capable of it will handle all audio internally at 32 bit and still produce 24 bit export files if that's what you choose in the export dialog. For pretty much everything else you'd export at the highest bit depth available. If you are making mp3's for example then you'd likely export at 16bit and select the dither option as well. It's ONLY when you are exporting audio that it becomes an option as to whether you choose 24 or 16 bit. ![]() Reason handles ALL audio internally as 32bit floating point at whatever sample rate your project is set to which is why there are no preference settings to make. The Focusrite is likely a 24 bit only interface. Am I missing something obvious? Any help appreciated. So what am I recording new audio at? I want it to be 24-bit but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to actually set this. And when I Bounce tracks or export audio, I get a choice but it always seems to default to 16-bi, I have to select 24-bit. It says it's controlled by my interface (Focusrite Scarlett 8i6), but that MixControl software only has a setting for Sample Rate.
